Theme Song for the 2nd Sumikko Gurashi Anime Film by Bump of Chicken

Theme song "Small World" is performed by a band for the November 5 film - On Wednesday, the official website for Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mah no Ko (The Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night), San-second X's Sumikko Gurashi film, began streaming a new teaser for the film. The film's theme song, "Small World," by the band BUMP OF CHICKEN, is revealed and previewed in the trailer.

The film is directed by Takahiro Mori (Durarara!!, Natsume's Book of Friends, Princess Jellyfish). The narrative is written by Reiko Yoshida (Violet Evergarden, Lu over the wall, K-ON!) and the art director is Kaori Hino (Modest Heroes, Napping Princess), who worked on the first film. Fanworks will animate the film again, and ASMIK Ace will distribute it.

The main people in the film go on a camping trip one day in the fall, and that night they remember a legend: supernatural creatures will visit the town once every five years on the night of a large and blue full moon. When the characters glance up, they notice a huge blue moon in the sky.

Sumikko Gurashi made their debut in 2012 as slightly ominous characters who prefer to hide in the corner of a room. "Shirokuma," a polar bear who is sensitive to cold; "Penguin?" (with a question mark in its name), a penguin who is confused if it is a penguin; "Tonkatsu," an uneaten pork cutlet; "Neko," a bashful cat; and "Tokage," a dinosaur who hides his true identity as one of the last dinosaurs.

Sumikkogurashi – Good to be in the Corner, the first anime feature, premiered in Japan in November 2019. In its first weekend, the film was ranked #3. As of February 2020, the film had sold 1.22 million tickets and grossed 1.4 billion yen (about US$12.8 million) at the Japanese box office. In June 2020, the film earned the Best Animation of the Year award at the 29th Annual Japan Movie Critics Awards.

The first film at Fanworks was directed by Manky (Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls Theater, Jaku-San-Sei Million Arthur). The script was written by Takashi Sumita (Europe Kikaku). The art director was Kaori Hino (Napping Princess, In This Corner of the World).

Toys, novels, stationery, and video games have all been inspired by the brand. The Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Tobidasu Ehon to Himitsu no Ko – Game de Asob! was inspired by the first film. In November 2019, the Switch game Ehon no Sekai (Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: The Unexpected Picture Book and the Secret Child – Let's Play a Game! Worlds of Picture Books) was released.
